The Yellow Affair boards Ireland's Oscar Candidate SHELTER (Foscadh)

SHELTER (Foscadh) by Seán Breathnach selected as Ireland's Oscar submission for the 94th Academy Awards in March 2022.

The Yellow Affair is on board for World Sales and will introduce SHELTER to buyers during the Fall Markets.

The film recently had its world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh where it won Best Irish First Feature

Set in the wild mountains of Connemara, Shelter tells the story of naïve recluse John Cunliffe who is suddenly propelled into manhood at the ripe old age of 28. When his over-protective parents pass away, friendless John inherits mountain land that is in the way of a lucrative wind-farm development, and he is forced to navigate the choppy waters of romance, trust and vengeance for the first time…

The ensuing drama is a taut and absorbing late coming-of-age tale from the North-western fringes of Europe.

Speaking about the selection of Foscadh (Shelter), Áine Moriarty – IFTA Academy CEO said, "The Irish Academy is delighted to announce Foscadh to represent Ireland. This is a stunning debut feature from Seán Breathnach with its beautiful tranquil depiction of the West of Ireland. Its subtle and brilliant storytelling will no doubt resonate with international audiences of any language. The vulnerability and isolation captured in Dónall Ó Héalai’s striking lead performance is yet another reminder of the superb acting talent in this country.”

SHELTER is produced by Paddy Hayes for Magamedia and financed in partnership with TG4, the BAI and Screen Ireland. The cast features Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2020 Dónall Ó Héalaí, Fionnuala Flaherty, Macdara Ó Fátharta, Cillian Ó Gairbhí and music is by Icelandic composer Sindri Már Sigfússon.

The film will be released in Ireland by Eclipse Pictures.
