PRESS RELEASE MAY 3
‘Sometimes you have to travel a long way to see what is right in front of you’. Mika Kaursimäki’s latest film, ROAD NORTH, explores themes surrounding a father and son relationship. What seems obvious to most of us is a mystery to these two estranged men. It takes a journey North, full of quirky and comical pit-stops, to bring these two polar-opposites together.
It’s a warm and touching story, with Mika’s trademark dark humor, but most importantly of all it boasts a universal theme of the often tenuous bond between father and son.
ROAD NORTH was directed and produced by Mika Kaurismäki for Marianna Films. It was co written with Kaurismäki by Sami Keski-Vähälä.
The film will be having a preview screening in Cannes (Screening: May 20, 1.30pm at Arcades 3). The screening is invitation only. Please emailcontact@yellowaffair.com for an invitation.
