Synopsis:

Jim is a seventeen-year-old boxer in a small town. He is a golden boy, preparing for a fight that will elevate him to an early professional status. All bets are on his climb to success. But his father Stan is a demanding coach and a notorious alcoholic. In the town Stan is treated like a joke but he has given everything to see his son gain professional status and escape the brutality of his small world. As Jim begins to rethink why he is fighting his life tangles with Whetu, a razor-tongued, gay Maori boy who spends his days in an old shack down by the beach. With his dog Moimoi he cobbles together a fragile glamour and dreams of leaving town to become a musician. As Jim stumbles towards discovering what it really is to be a gay man, he is forced to see that strength has little to do with heroism.

Synopsis: It is 1991 in Latvia and nineteen-year-old aspiring cinematographer Jazis’s whole world is thrown into chaos as he is dragged into the people’s peaceful protests against the Soviet Army’s attempted takeover of power in his country.

“January” is an autobiographical take on the political upheaval in the early 1990s that changed the lives of the people of the former Soviet Union. Jazis and his friends Anna and Zeps are all aspiring filmmakers, trying to pursue their dreams of making movies and enjoying the freedom of young adulthood, when the collapse of the political system in the region upends their plans, family ties and friendship. Their experience and participation in the nonviolent resistance through the construction of barricades and human shields becomes the defining moment in their coming-of-age.

Synopsis:
The Grump’s everyday life in the deepest of Finland rolls forward according to old routines. He’s busy working on his farm, but memories of his big brother Tarmo are bothering him. Tarmo moved to Germany decades ago, and the brothers haven’t been in touch, even though they were best friends when they were children. 

One day the Grump crashes his beloved Escort, and the car is taken to the junkyard. But the Grump is particular when it comes to cars; any old car won’t do. The nearest 1972 Escort is found in Germany. The Grump withdraws a suitcase full of money at the local bank and heads to Germany.

Synopsis:
